George TRUMAN born in Chudleigh Devonshire, went to London aged 12, stone and marble sawyer. 1857 went to Vic. arriving March 1858. Yarraville. 1863 contract to supply stone for the culverts and bridges for the Mt. Alexander railway - 2 years. Yarraville. Supplied stone for W'town Graving dock, Vic. Bond Lonsdale St, Premier Building Soc. chambers - Collins St. East. Portico Town hall N.Z. Mortgage Co's woolstores - Collins St. West City of Melb. Bank. Extra storey of Goldsborough wool stores. Carlton brewery addition Son - Thomas Edwin - large property owner.

I do have a list of Chudleigh Apprenticeship Indentures that Jan gave me (from the Devon Record Office).
It features several Trumans, including a George Truman, age 10 (PO 23/1017) apprenticed to William Cox, yeoman, in 1836. In the 1851 census there's a William Cox (age 48), a farmer in Chudleigh.

Will dated 5 April 1893
leaves everything to his wife Jane Stone Truman except his watch which was to go to his son Jack Truman. Left 600 pounds in real estate and 170 pounds in personal property.
