Notes for John (Spouse 1)
A John Tarbet aged 90 appears in the 1851 Census living with William b 1819, Catherine b1824 Ewart, and Margaret aged 18 from Berwick, grand daughter and servant. This could be Henry and Alice’s daughter Margaret with wrong? birthplace.
Marriage: record in PR’s Ford Parish and Dissenters. Witnesses Henry Tarbit and James Davison.
Death: certificate
Death: Died aged 91 yrs (wrongly says 97 on the certificate) of debility. Margaret Tarbit in attendance.
John's birthplace is given as Calaley in the 1851 census but there is no record of any Tarbit (et)'s there at that time, nor at Rothbury or Eglingham. There is a William Tarbit, a James Tarbit, and a Henry Tarbit all starting families at about the same time as our John. The assumption would be that these are brothers, but I have no proof of this. The name changes fron Tarbit to Tarbet all throught these records depending on the whim of the registrar. Tarbitt appears first in the family of Henry and Anne Coxon, some taking the two tt's and others keeping to one t.
