John was the one who went to Oz. I have his contract too and on re-reading it I see he too went via 'the Cape'. He sailed out before his uncle John and Aunt Annie in March 1911. He went on the SS Geelong, of the P&O line from London to Sydney. He paid £15 before he went "as per contract with New South Wales Govt." He had curry on his breakfast menu !! Again I just have the front page of his contract cert.
This John did well for himself. He married another migrant, a lass from Dunbar [E Lothian] and had 2 sons ..Roger and Allan. Both these boys came over for long stays in the UK as young men.[1950s] Both stayed with us or their aunts in Edin whilst working so we knew them well.
Allan married Elva Brimms [ of Brimmsboard] and now widowed lives in Annerley/Brisbane.
Roger married Jean and they live in Denistone/Sydney.
