27th June 1889 - Inquest into death of Esther Hogarth, 8 years old, of Blackmountain, Cloncurry, sister of
Donald James.
Donald James Hogarth admitted to having accidentally shot his younger sister in the head. He was 16 years
old. A warrant was then issued for commital of Donald James for manslaughter.

PA Cooper, sentence: "Prisoner who was on bail was released from his recognizances, also sureties on 30th
August '89".
Comment: It seems Donald James Hogarth was simply released for good on 30th August 1889, and trial did
not proceed. Charter Towers Supreme Court records for this time are not available.
