Death registered by son George.
He died on the 18th December 1882 at the age of 53. The registration of his death notes his age as 52 and also spells his and his father's first name incorrectly. His occupation is given as "Blacksmith (Journeyman)" which we can assume is less illustrious than his father's which is given as "Blacksmith Master". Cause of death was given as "Bronchitic Asthma" no doubt a professional hazard for blacksmiths. He was living at 59 High Street, Portobello. A bit of a tragic life if we look at some of the major events in it: 1829: born in Liberton 1852: married Elizabeth Thomson 1853: birth of son, Ebenezer 1856: birth of daughter, Helen Murray 1858: birth and death of unnamed daughter as well as his first wife (from TB) 1860: death of daughter, Helen Murray 1860: married Helen Ferguson 1862: birth of daughter, Margaret Annie Connell 1863: birth of son, George 1865: birth of daughter, Jane Shiells 1866: death of daughter, Jane Shiells (from Bronchopneumonia) 1867: birth of daughter, Catherine Morrison Bell 1879: death of son, Ebenezer (from TB) 1882: death of daughter, Catherine Morrison Bell (from TB) 1882: Ebenezer himself dies (from Bronchitic asthma) At this stage, he is survived by his wife, Helen Ferguson, his son George, who lives until 1935, and his daughter, Margaret Annie Connell. She marries in 1890 but dies during childbirth in 1891 leaving George, my great Grandfather as the only surviving child
