On the 1881 census there is a Mary Ripper aged 72 who is recorded as living in her own house and derives her income as an annuitant. This could be the widow of William Ripper. She asserts on the census that she lives in Cubert and was born there. Cubert parish is adjacent to Perranzabuloe. There is also a Mary Ripper who, aged 68 and born in Tywardreath, keeps her own shop in St Austell.
