Witnesses at wedding are William Pate of Mossilee and Margaret Douglas Pate of Stobsheil Mains.
Geo spent all his life at Stobshiel. He farmed in partnership with his father until his father’s death in 1945, and then he took Stobshiel to the top of the market with half-bred sheep and suckled calves. he took his sons John and George into partnership. They vought the farm of Torcraik in 1960 and John and his family went to live there. Then they bought Stobshiel and he continued farming there with son George until his death.
Geo and Peggy took an active part in the community life of humbie. Geo was an Elder of Humbie church for over 40 years and Peggy was involved with the Woman’s Guild and the AWRI. Both enjoyed gardening and the garden was open to the public on one occasion when the mansion house gardens were also open. After George’s death Peggy lived in a nursing home as she suffered severley from Parkinsons.
