Thomas Daw and Jessie Blackmore.... were married at the Registry Office at Plymouth, on the 23rd. December, 1869, Thomas being 23 years old and his bride 18.
On the 30th. April, 1870 (about 4 months later) their first child William was born at Ivybridge.
..
Well, to resume. The second child, Elizabeth Alice Daw, was born at Ivybridge on the 1st January, 1872.
Thomas describes himself as a Master Baker on the Birth Certificate of his third child, Edith Emily, born on the 8th July, 1873.
..two boys who died young. One is believed to have been named Cecil, the other was Archibald.
..
I searched in the Register of Deaths at Somerset House and managed to trace that of young Archibald, died at Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot, on the 7th December, 1883, at the age of 20 months.
It was not a head injury that caused his death — rather the other extreme — as he died of Diarrhoea!
Grandfather Thomas died on the 16th. April 1912 at Taunton.  His Death Certificate describes him as a Mater Butcher.  He was born Daw and died Daw with out the “e”.
Alice (the eldest girl) was employed by Woollands at Knightsbridge. She was married to Harry Westlake, and for a time they lived in rooms in her mother’s house at 8, Ledbury Road, Bayswater.
Edith married a man whose surname was Ruth. He was delicate and died young.
Kate, who remained unmarried, was at one time manageress in Maynards sweet shop in London. ..
Olive and Elsie had good jobs as dressmakers or milliners: it is believed that Elsie was a Court Dressmaker, and that either she or Olive worked also at Woollands.
Olive married Arthur Richardson and Elsie was married to Arthur Callard.
Arthur Callard’s occupation, until he retired, was that of what I believe is called a High Steward; a position which he held with some high-ranking titled families.
Winnifred, the youngest of the family, was married to Alfred C. Weetman early in 1913..

William Daw married Annie Taylor – they were the mother and father of Eric who gave us the Daw history.

Owen Daw changed his name to Charles Owen and made a success of his life.

Horace Daw is cousin Hilda’s father.

Olive – Auntie Olive married Arthur Richardson , Evelyn’s  mother and father – more later.

Elsie – Auntie Elsie married Arthur Callard – Jim’s mother and father, there was also a cousin Mary but no body spoke about her.  I did meet her a couple of times in Portsmouth.  I think that she lived in some form of institution.

So Winifred married Alfred Canning Weetman, there son, my father William Alfred Canning Weetman married Gladys Humphreys in 1940. ..
