John lived in Leslie St Clunes from 1890 to 1906 (land rates records).
When young was a miner then later a bootmaker and had a shop in Bailey St Clunes. He tookover the Bootmaker shop from Charles Oliver and paid rent to
Carl Conrad Waickhardt the owner.
John played football for Clunes Football Club and on 22/4/1892 was elected the ass. sec. of the North Clunes Football Club.
From 1897 to 1901 John competed in the Fire Brigade Sports and performed with distinction.
In March 1906 he was farewelled by the ANA Lodge, after 19 years as a member, he was now going to a place called Canbeligo in Western NSW.
