i again Lois My connection to the Arris family is through Margaret Baptist, cousin to my great-grandfather Charles Rutherford. Margaret was born 1837 at Ancroft and married William Arris, born about 1837 at Kirknewton, in the March quarter of 1866 in the Wooler area. William was a shepherd. Their first 4 daughters were born at Wooler and the next two at Alnham, where Margaret and William were still living in 1901. The name Ellen in that family would come from Margaret's mother, Eleanor Blyth. Hope this helps with your research Best wishes Jane
