Numerous sources given the parents of Margaret COURTENAY as Sir Hugh COURTENAY & Maud (Matilda) BEAUMONT; but the date of her parents marriage and when Margaret was born is a mystery. Many references give Maud as the 3rd wife of Hugh; but there are no dates of marriage and no dates for the deaths of former wives, only guesses from what I have gleaned. Maud is also credited with 2 different sets of parents, so it is obvious that there were 2 women living about the same time both named "Maud BEAUMONT."
From Visitations of Cornwall " Dau of Hugh & Maud BEAUMONT married to Sir Theobald GRENVILLE." Perhaps she may have been an illegitimate child, though it is more likely to have been one of the earlier wives as her mother. Some sources give this Hugh 4 wives; but still no dates for a marriage.
