SAMUEL CROOKE was Rector of Wrington Somerset 1602/49.. His brother was Sir Thomas Crooke, of Baltimore Ireland.

Born 1574 died 1649. He was the son of Thomas Crooke DD (1560) of Grays Inn. Born at Waldingsfield, Suffolk B.A from

SAMUEL CROOKE's surviving sermons and books are mainly about Christian morality. He dealt only with fundamental questions and is the only Somerset Clergyman to use the Doctrine of Covenant. He considered the Last Supper as solely a memorial.

He was a daily orator and clearness and conciseness of its content, were matched by his popularity amongst Puritans. Crooke was not a separatist, but was mistrustful of the Book of Common Prayer

James Naylor certifies that St.Helen's Chapel in Hardshawe, is intended as a meeting place for Protestant dissenters and desires it
